Spur Steak Ranches's Full Tummy Fund invites South Africans to unite behind purpose and join us this World Hunger Day, on 28 May, at our special meal packing event in partnership with Rise Against Hunger.
This critical initiative promises a day of inspiration, education and collective impact. This forms part of our efforts to alleviate early childhood malnutrition. Spur Steak Ranches through it’s Spur Full Tummy Fund collaborates with trusted NGOs, ForAfrika, The Lunchbox Fund and Rise Against Hunger,  to provide nearly 1 million nutritional meals to feed children at under-resourced day care centres across South Africa. For many of these children, these are the only nutritious meals they receive each day.
Spur Steak Ranches endeavours to elevate joy through fostering inclusivity and empowerment across all communities. We commit to creating opportunities that ensure everyone has a place at the table, driving positive change and nurturing a world where equity and cooperation thrive. R1 from every Spur Kids Burger sold is allocated to our Spur Full Tummy Fund to support nutritional programmes at under- resourced day care centres.
“30% of children in South Africa are stunted due to malnourishment. Spur is synonymous with children and it makes sense for us to play our part in ensuring they receive a nutritious meal.  We thank our customers and franchisees who support us and we’re able to make a meaningful difference through the Spur Full Tummy Fund”, said  Amanda van Wyk,  Chief Operating Officer of Spur Steak Ranches.
In 2024, our Spur Full Tummy Fund World Hunger Day campaign donated and packed more than 200 000 meals, providing nourishment to 945 children for an entire year. This year, we aim to go even further. We will host three meal packing events in support of World Hunger Day 2025. Spur Full Tummy Fund has already pledged the first 100 000 meals and together with our valued franchisees and suppliers we aim to reach 250 000 meals. We are calling on all individuals and corporates to join us on 28 May 2025, to help us pack these meals.
Packing will take place at the following venues:
Western Cape:  Spur Corporation Head Office, Century City
KwaZulu-Natal: Varsity College Durban North
Gauteng: Thunder Ridge Spur, Centurion
Volunteer shifts are 90 minutes and start at 10h00, 12h00 and 14h00.  Visit the Spur Steak Ranches Facebook page for more information.
Because it’s not just a meal…
It’s hope.
It’s nurturing.
It’s resilience.
It’s education.
It’s joy.
It’s empowerment.
It’s our responsibility.
